Minimal design

Over the last couple of nights, I’ve hacked together a new blot theme for the blog. I’m not 100% happy with the typography. Something about the font, color and line spacing isn’t quite right, in my minds-eye. Advice, tips, corrections appreciated.

I am heavily inspired by a content first, minimal design. Leo Babuata’s Zen Habits and mnmlist as well as Manuel Moreale’s website especially. I even named this Blot theme moreale.

All those sites put the most recent post front and center, then simply list the archives. No navigation. I’m liking this. Simple. Clean. I’ll keep it around for a while and then alter it.

I’ll see if I can share this theme if anyone cares to collaborate or improve it.

I have other projects I’m exploring that are designed with the newsletter-signup-to-paid-content model. But not this site. Where the Light Gathers is a place for me to write and think out loud. For myself. If someone else likes something here, even better. But I’m not using this to sell you anything.
